Having watched very closely and read all the analysis, i have come to this conclusion.
I think Afe’s people being extremely brilliant lawyers have missed the point.
Dele also being an extremly brilliant albiet inexperienced lawyer, is a an extremely brilliant activist.
I think he has fooled his opponents to think he was going for a trial in a court of law while he is actually going for a trial in the court of public opinion where legacy is the main subject on trial.
Even a village drunk knows that those kinds of heavy allegations as mentioned in his book without concrete evidence is professional suicide.
He not only put it there. But went ahead to strengthen the accusations in the media without citing an iota of evidence.
I have looked at the maximum penalty. 3years and or fine including a possible disbarement.
This is a simple or very little punishment if he succeeds in tarring the larger than life image of a major symbol of institutional establishment.
Its the classic Mandela scenario. His accusers charged him for terrorism, treason and violence against the state but in his defence, he talked about the inhumanity of the apartheid system and why it should be brought down.
He lost. Got a life jail but today who won. Who even remebers the name of the President of South Africa when the trial held.
