The Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti , Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, AFUNTADE1,has described the National Honour of the Commander Of the Niger (CON ) conferred on Lagos Lawyer and humanrights activist, Barrister Femi Falana by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well deserved.
High Chief Ajibade Olubunmi, the Media Adviser to Alawe,in a statement made available to newsmen said Monarch who spoke in his palace at Ilawe-Ekiti today , noted that he was.not surprised that the Ilawe born lawyer would be honoured for his role in the democratic struggle in the country particularly the struggle that followed the annulment of the June 12,1993 presidential election.
Oba Alabi said the Ilawe-Ekiti born senior Lawyer deserved the national honour considering his dogged advocacy for true democracy in Nigeria.
The statement reads : “on behalf of ILawe sons and daughters congratulated Barrister Femi Falana, SAN,on the national award of the Commander Of the Niger (CON ) conferred on him today June 12, 2025 by President Bola. Ahmed Tinubu.
“Aside from his belief for improved democratic values in the country ,Femi Falana has always been a human rights activist, focusing on the upliftment of the down trodden in all spheres of life, the Alawe stressed .
Oba Alabi further stated that the Barrister has been a pillar behind many positive developments in Ilawe-Ekiti ,his home town ,and that the people are always happy to have him as a leader and a facilitator of many projects in the community.
The Alawe also thanked President Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for conferring the national award on Barrister Femi Falana SAN saying the entire people of Ilawe-Ekiti are happy to receive the good news
