Rivers State governor, Nyesome Wike has hailed the roles played by the northern governors in deepening democracy and unity of the country as reflected in the results of the ,just concluded presidential election
Wike while reacting to the emergence of a Southern Candidate in ghe just concluded Presidential poll ,it was clear from the poll results that the North has the numerical advantage to retain power ,if it so wish .
Instead ,the governor the northern governors divided yo build a stronger and more united country by voting for a southern candidate.
The fiery governor said history would be kind to the northern political leaders individually and collectively too for their roles in the historic poll.
“The North has the number to retain the power if they so wish but APC Northern Governors decided to build a united Nigeria. Some of you may not understand today but history will remember those Governors individually and collectively even far more than some of us that jettisoned politics for national cohesion. They have made our faith in Nigeria stronger”Wike
Recall that the Wike, though a member of the Peoples Demicratic Party(PDP) delivered his state for the rival All Progressives Congress(APC) in the Presidential poll held last Saturday.
His action was not unconnected with the unresolved crisis with the leadership of the PDP at the centre.Rivers is the only state won by the APC in the South-South geopolitical zone .
