The Chief Imsm, Lagos State University, Professor Abdulhamid Sani has cautioned Muslims against indulging in any unapproved acts or attend worldly gatherings that may rubbish whatever good deeds they put before their creator.
In his sermon after the observance of the two mandatory rakkats at LASU Eid Praying Ground ,the Imam said it was forbidden to sell ,hoard or use part of the animal for mundane ritual purposes.
According to him, the sacrificial Ram used by Prophet Ibrahim had been kept in paradise for over 4000 years before it was used for the symbolic act of worship.
Quoting from Qur’an chapter 37,vs 100 and Qur’an 22, Professor Sani explained that one of the lessons of Eidel Kabir was patience ,perseverance and contentment. He added that part of the lessons was for the Muslims to keep faith with their creator whenever they seek help.
He also cautioned Muslims not to over burden themselves by going extra – miles in taking loans to procure Sallah Ram,stressing that only those who have the means should get it .
On how to share the Animal ,the Imam explained that part of the animal should be given to needy, neoghbours who could ask for it and those who would not .
“Whenever any muslim want to slaughter his or her ram ,he or she must use sharp knife and call the name of Allah before it is being killed .We must not kill an animal in the presence of another. After killing ot,the animal should be shared in three places: One for the family, then the other two for those who could ask for it and those who will not ask.
” It is a recommended act that whoever assisted us in killing and cutting the animal should be paid in cash ,rather than offering part of the animal as gifted or reward for the service rendered.” The Imam explained
Sani disclosed that God Almighty fulfilled His promise on prophet Ibrahim and answer his prayer when he(Ibrahim) was 86 year-old.
He enjoined Muslims to use the occasion of the Eid-el Kabir to show love to their neighbours and cement the family ties .
Professor Sani however admonished Muslims to endeavour to get full rewards of Eidel Kabir celebrations by not indulging in any unapproved acts or attend worldly gatherings that may rubbish whatever good deeds they put before their creator.
