A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Bamisile, has declared that the All Progressives Congress was clearly vindicated with the publication of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s name on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s final list for the forthcoming governorship poll .
Bamisile, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Delegated Legislation, declared that the publication, had laid to rest the swirling rumour that the governor was not validly nominated to vie for the June 20, 2026 election.
The former speaker said these in a statement issued through his Media Office in Abuja on Tuesday.
He spoke in respect of INEC Publication of final list of candidates for the election, where Oyebanji’s name prominently featured as APC candidate .
Bamisile justified the action taken by APC in the emergence of the governor, saying all the legal crucibles were stringently followed to ensure that the candidacy complied with the provisions of the electoral act.
The representative of the Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, congratulated the governor for overcoming the challenge posed by purveyors of fake news, who had been peddling rumour of his likely exclusion from the list.
We all knew what transpired when governor Oyebanji was affirmed by party members as the candidate for the June 20 governorship poll. All the provisions of the law were strictly complied with because the ruling party believes in the rule of law.
“But the naysayers were spreading the rumour that the Governor won’t be enlisted as the candidate, that he would be excluded, which created panic among some members.
“INEC Publication of the list of candidates by parties had laid this to rest. Governor Oyebanji’s name prominently featured and all we need to do now is to be ready to campaign vigorously for his reelection when the electoral body lifts ban on election campaign””.
On how to approach the election by APC members, Bamisile said the ongoing electronic registration of members provided a fertile opportunity for the party to begin aggressive mobilisation drives for the governor’s victory.
He said though Governor Oyebanji has succeeded in marketing himself through exceptional and superlative performance across all the sectors of the economy, predicting that the APC members have less work to do to earn the governor a deserved victory.
“We know quite well that Governor Oyebanji has performed well and has earned the respect of Ekiti electorate. But we won’t take anything to chances. We will campaign and deliver him across all the 177 wards of Ekiti State”.
