As the holy month of Ramadan begins, Hon Yekeen Popoola, the former chairmen of Association of Local Government Of Nigeria ALGON, extends heartfelt greetings to all Muslims around the world. He described the month of Ramadan as a time of reflection and prayer that Muslim community holds in a very high esteem for its importance in the life of humans.
Popoola in his goodwill message said, “as we embark on this sacred month, I want to wish all those observing Ramadan a peaceful and fulfilling experience. This is a time for spiritual growth, compassion, and unity. It is an opportunity for us to come together as a community, to support one another, and to reflect on the values of generosity and kindness that are at the heart of this holy month.”
“Ramadan is observed by millions around the world, marked by fasting from dawn until sunset, prayer, and acts of charity. It serves as a reminder of the importance of empathy and understanding, encouraging individuals to reach out to those in need.
Popoola emphasized the significance of community engagement during this time, stating, “I encourage everyone to participate in every aspect of this fasting and initiatives that promote solidarity and support for our neighbors. Let us use this month to strengthen our bonds and foster a spirit of inclusivity.”
In recognition of the diverse traditions within the community, Ex-Irepo Local Government chairman also highlighted the importance of respecting and celebrating the various cultural practices that enrich the community.
