Former Chairman of Ekiti Council of Traditional Rulers and Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi AFUNTADE 1 has urged students to prioritize their academic pursuits and shun all unapproved acts which could truncate their dreams .
Speaking at the maide matriculation ceremony of the Federal College of Education ,Ilawe- Ekiti, Oba Alabi assured the staff and students of the Federal College that the community would continue to provide conducive environment in the institution for further development.
While showering encomiums on prominent indigenes for their support in facilitating the establishment of the institution admonished students to shun unwholesome behaviours such as cultism and drug addiction .
The monarch again used the occasion to expressed gratitude to the Federal government on the establishment of the institution which he said has attracted huge number of students.
Oba Alabi assured the management and the matriculating students that Ilawe-Ekiti would continue to provide the necessary support to the College in several areas to ensure its rapid expansion.
He said that only recently ,the community had through a kindhearted indigene provided Solar powered electricity to the offices of the Principal Officers of the institution while a police station had been constructed by the Ekiti South West Local government to ensure adequate security in the area.
Giving a short history of the establishment of the institution,commended the Federal government for the establishment of institution by Alawe disclose that the action had saved several applicants from roaming around for admissions “.
Oba Alabi expressed special thanks to the new Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Obas, HRM Oba Adejimi Adu Agrilala II for his presence at the occasion.
The presence of the Onigede of Igede Ekiti, Oba James Adelusi Aladesuru II was equally acknowledged by the Alawe.
The Provost of the College, Professor Ajigbade Ikuejube admonished the students to be hardworking and dedicated to their studies.
The Registrar of the institution , Mrs Wuraola Garba later administered the matriculation oath on the Students.
