FCT Council Poll : Group Hails Abuja Indigenous Voters, Wike , Others

 

The Abuja Original Inhabitants and Youths Empowerment Organisation (AOIYEO),has described the last Saturday council elections in Abuja as peaceful and credible

The President of the group Commandant Isaac David,in a statement said the poll has been adjudged as one of the freest and fairest in Nigeria’s recent electoral history.

Isaac reaffirmed AOIYEO’s commitment to constructive engagement, grassroots mobilization and sustained advocacy for the rights and development of original inhabitants of the FCT.

While commending his members and the residents for their overwhelming support to all the council chairmen who emerged victorious in the just concluded FCT Area Council elections, he equally commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he termed a transparent and well-coordinated exercise that strengthened democratic confidence among the people of the FCT.

The statement reads:

“We deeply appreciate the indigenous communities and residents of the FCT for standing firm in unity and exercising their civic responsibility peacefully. Their collective resolve has once again demonstrated the political maturity of our people,” he said.

Isaac also praised Senator Philip Aduda for what he described as standing solidly “on the side of the people,” noting that his role during the electoral process further cemented his bond with FCT constituents.

“Now we indigenous people of FCT have seen the basis of your friendship with the Honourable Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike. Your alignment with the aspirations of the grassroots is clear and commendable,” he stated.

The AOIYEO president further expressed profound appreciation to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his unwavering commitment and sustained support for the cause of original inhabitants of the territory.

According to him, the Minister’s developmental strides and inclusive approach have rekindled hope among indigenous communities.

“We assure the Honourable Minister that FCT indigenous people are readily available to reciprocate the love and support he has shown to us in the general election in 2027,” Isaac declared.

While congratulating the newly elected Area Council chairmen, the AOIYEO president charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering purposeful leadership and accelerated development across their respective councils.

“This victory is a mandate to serve. The people expect visible development, youth empowerment, infrastructural renewal and policies that reflect the true needs of our communities. They must give their very best to move their Area Councils forward,” he added.
