The management of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) has commended the Rotary E-Club of One Nigeria, District 9126, and the Femimoniolu Foundation for organizing a three-day free cancer screening for residents of Ekiti State.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the program on Friday, the Chief Medical Director of EKSUTH, Professor Kayode Olabanji, emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups as a proactive approach to preventing and treating terminal diseases.
Olabanji noted that the initiative by the Rotary E-Club and Femimoniolu Foundation demonstrates their commitment to fostering a healthy and serene environment for the people of Ekiti State.
He called on residents to prioritize regular medical check-ups and pledged the hospital’s continued collaboration with the groups to improve the health and welfare of the state’s population.
His words: “The screening is an opportunity for people to get tested. This is a commendable program, and we cannot appreciate you enough.
“To our people, this center is here for you. Ensure you get screened. Everyone should take advantage of this opportunity. If any issues are detected, we will provide the necessary treatment.”
The President of the Rotary E-Club, Ganiyat Tijani, explained that the program aimed to provide free screenings for breast cancer, cervical cancer, uterine cancer, and prostate cancer to benefit the people of Ekiti State.
She highlighted the club’s focus on providing clean water, basic education, and fostering economic development to improve the quality of life.
The Convener of Femimoniolu Foundation, Funmilola Aladegbola, stated that the foundation was established in honour of her parents, who died of terminal diseases.
She affirmed the foundation’s commitment to supporting underprivileged individuals and eradicating terminal diseases among residents of Ekiti State.
A beneficiary of the initiative, Oluwaseun Tenibiaje, 42, expressed gratitude to the organizers for the free screening.
