From Toyota Sienna to Korope, Motorcycles to Freezers — it was jubilation galore in Old Irepo Federal Constituency on Thursday, 24th September, 2026, as Hon. (Dr) Prince Olaide Lateef Mohammed, popularly known as POLAM, flagged off the first batch of his much-anticipated Mega Empowerment 2026.
The historic ceremony, held in collaboration with the Federal Cooperative College, Oji-River, marked the beginning of a 5-batch empowerment revolution targeting 1,000 youth and women across Irepo, Orelope and Olorunsogo LGAs, with over 150 life-changing items worth hundreds of millions of naira distributed in the first phase alone, cutting across vehicles, mini-trucks, motorcycles, deep freezers, generators and other income-generating tools.
Addressing the his supporters and beneficiaries ,Hon. Olaide Mohammed described the Mega Empowerment 2026 initiative as a landmark intervention designed to reach 1,000 youth and women across the constituency, to be delivered in five batches.
In the first batch alone, over 150 items were distributed across five series. Beneficiaries received different items from Toyota Sienna (presented to the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA) to Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Golf, Mini trucks (Korope), Motorcycles, Deep freezers and Generators respectively. The distribution of these items cut across the three local government areas he represents.
“The programme is designed to empower 1,000 constituents with vehicles, mini trucks, motorcycles, deep freezers, generators, POS machines with cash, saloon kits with cash, and many other items. Today marks the beginning of that journey.”
“To our beneficiaries, I congratulate you all. Use what you have received wisely. Make it productive. Let it become a foundation for something bigger. Our greatest satisfaction will be to see today’s beneficiaries grow, succeed, and become contributors to the development of their families and communities.”
Hon Mohammed extended heartfelt appreciation to the constituents who stood by him during the last elections from traditional rulers and elders to religious leaders, community leaders and stakeholders across the three LGAs for their guidance and continued partnership. He also commended party leaders, ward chairmen, legislative aides, and the youth and women of the constituency for their resilience, sacrifice and strong commitment to the progress of this Federal Constituency.
He reaffirmed his commitment to continue delivering on his promises: securing Federal Government appointments, driving infrastructural development, and empowering youth and women, until his last day in office.
The Mega Empowerment ceremony was witnessed by APC leaders and stakeholders from across the state, led by the Oyo APC Secretary; representatives from Irepo, Olorunsogo and Orelope LGAs; Hon. Salami Waliu Ayinde, Minority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly; religious and community leaders; and a media crew from the National Assembly, Abuja.
