HARMFUL TRADITIONAL PRACTICES: CSOS SAVED WIDOW FROM DRINKING LATE HUSBAND’S BODY “S WASHING

A collaborative effort of Civil Society Organisations and Imo State Ministry of Women Affairs has led to the rescue of a widow from harmful traditional practices[drinking of water from washing ]in Isieke, Awo-Omamma, Imo State.

The widow, Chika Joy Amanda whose husband, Mr. Odinakachi Ndubuisi, passed away due to Hepatitis, was falsely accused by her in-laws, the Akamegbulem family, of killing him.

The Imo Ministry of Women Affairs, Onurube Coalition Group, Virgin Heart Foundation, Harsco Global Media, Odumodu TV, and Sisters With a Goal intervened and rescued the widow, providing her with support and protection.

This rescue highlights the ongoing efforts to combat harmful widowhood practices and promote women’s rights in Nigeria.
