A ranking member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Bamisile, has hailed the Ekiti State residents over their massive turnout during the Monday’s statewide endorsement held for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The former speaker said the extreme display of love and acceptability by Ekiti people for the two leaders, vividly signalled passing of vote of confidence in their leadership, which he said would encourage them to aggressively deliver on their promises.
Bamisile gave the commendations, in a statement endorsed by his Media Office in Abuja and made available to journaltsts, on Wednesday.
The former speaker seconded the motion moved by the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, at the political gathering, leading to the statewide endorsement for President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji.
Expressing joy over the large turnout for Governor Oyebanji, in respect of the 2026 governorship poll, Bamisile stated that the congregation was the largest in Ekiti’s political history.
He said masses displaying electrifying love to appreciate a leader, is part of the ways to grow democracy and make it function expectedly.
Specifically, Bamisile praised his constituents from Ekiti East/Gbonyin/Emure Federal Constituency for their seamless reception to the endorsement, and for trooping out en masse to identify with Governor Oyebanji, who was indisputably the symbol of the endorsement.
“By all indications, Governor Oyebanji was the symbol of the endorsement. He was the rallying point. I knew the presidency would be dazzled by that large congregation of people to honour President Tinubu and the governor.
“Time has come for Nigerians to appreciate leaders that are doing well. This doesn’t connote compromise, but a way of deepening democracy and make it function, as expected.
“Criticism is good, but showing love can also encourage a leader to further deliver, especially when it is widely believed that such leadership is meeting the yearnings of the people. Though, nobody can do it all.
“I want to salute Ekiti people, including APC members, the opposition figures and non-partisan actors, for rising above partisanship to grace this endorsement.
“I am confident that more democracy dividends will follow from both the federal and state governments to appreciate this uncommon love from Ekiti citizens”, Bamisile stated.
