N415b 2026 Budgetary Estimate ‘ll Set Ekiti on High Economic Growth, Bamisile Predicts

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Delegated Legislation, Hon (Dr) Femi Bamisile, has predicted boom for Ekiti State economy in the 2026 fiscal year, with radical and diligent execution of the N415 billion appropriation bill proposed by Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

The ranking federal lawmaker, said the budget when passed, will set the state on high economic altitude and help consolidate the democracy gains for Ekiti populace, who have implicit confidence in the ability of the current governor to transform their lives.

Bamisile, a former speaker, gave the prediction, in a statement issued by his Media Office in Abuja, on Sunday.

Commending the huge budgetary estimate presented by the governor to the assembly for ratification, Bamisile posited that such huge amount being proposed for the state’s economy indicated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji’s policies are yielding fruitful results.

He said funding of such proposal could have been unrealistic because of the lean resources available to the state, but hinted that President Tinubu’s holistic economic reforms, coupled with increased internally generated revenue under Governor Oyebanji have geometrically improved the finances of the state.

Bamsile appealed to the State House Assembly to ratify the proposal expeditiously, so that the implementation could start early next year for the governor to finish his first term tenure strong and in an impactful fashion.

“Ekiti having a budget that was close to half a trillion looks unattainable and financially unserviceable , but the radical economic reforms being engineered by these two leaders have made things easier for Ekiti.

“It is heartwarming to see Ekiti State now sitting favourably on number 20 ladder of IGR among the comity of states. Ekiti State used to be on the lowest rung of the ladder. But because we have a governor who is prudent and proactive, things have changed.

“In year 2024, record indicated that Ekiti State made over N30bn IGR, which was a clear departure from what we used to experience in the past”.

Bamisile commended the governor for focusing heavily on the welfare of the citizens, youth empowerment and road infrastructures in the proposal.

“The principal focus of the budget is diligent payment of salaries, pension and gratuities, youth empowerment and road infrastructure that will build human capital resources and open up our dear state to more economic potentials.

“When we have good roads linking the towns to the state capital where we have the major markets, farming will improve, people will make more incomes and food inflation will reduce drastically”, he said.
