A group, Concerned Indigenous Youth of Oyo state (CIYO ) has described the inclusion of a senior lawyer, Ahmed Raji in the Ministerial list being prepared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The group’s Coordinator ,Hon Waheed Titilayo in a statement hailed President’s decision to include the brilliant Lawyer in his cabinet stressing that it was good omen for the ongoing effort to repositoon the party in Oyo State.
It stated that the action shows Tinubu has nose to identify the best hands for the job, giving the antecedents of the nominee who aptly fits in to plans to take Nigeria on to the path of sustainable development and growth.
The statement warned that ” if Oyo APC members do not want to frustrate the President’s efforts to rebuild the party in the state, the only support we can give him is to agree with him on his decision to return the party back to the winning political party”
The group cautioned some disgruntled elements behind the innuendo within APC in the state that Ahmed Raji was unknown to people of the state
“It is laughable and ridiculous for someone to think that such a person like Ahmed Raji is unknown in the state. Ahmed who is the current president of Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum ODCF, an organization that is equalvance to CCII or Omo Ajorosun of Ibadan.
“Besides that the rumoured nomination of Ahmed Raji underscores the plan by the President to run a government of competency as this Ahmed Raji completely fits in to this because apart from being a leading Senior Advocate of Nigeria, he is founder and principal at Ahmed Raji & Co, who was appointed by the former president as the Resident Electoral Commissioner where he served in five (5) different States in Nigeria for a period of eight (8) years.”
According to the statement Ahmed Raji’s expertise and experience transcends to a diverse and broad areas of practice, including litigation, mediation and arbitration, banking and corporate finance, maritime and admiralty, election matters and telecommunications.
He has about thirty (30) years experience in administrative and constitutional matters, criminal law, debt recovery, and other areas of practice. He was part of the team that successfully defended Nigeria National Petroleum Commission (NNPC) in an international arbitration against Petree INC, a US Company. He is known for his astute legal approach to client’s cases, keen attention to details and the ability to give advice on complex transactions and matters on-the-spot.
On the insinuation that he came from the same town with the present Chief Justice of Nigeria CJN the group said that this can only come from the people who are not in tune with the structure of the events the past about this country, saying that in 2007 when David Mark was the Senate president, Michael Aoandoaka was the attorney general and Minister for Justice while Justice Kastina Alu was the Chief Justice of Nigeria, all of them are from Benue state and heaven did not fall.
The group therefore advised people who are going round with this nonsense to desist from it because Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was known for the gathering of best hands that can lift this country to greater heights.
