Tony Elumelu has reportedly reached out to the young UBA staff member who went viral after addressing him simply as “Tony” during their now-famous exchange.
According to reports, Elumelu advised her and urged UBA Management not to discriminate against her because of the incident.
He reportedly also asked the bank to reconsider its first-name culture when dealing with elders, stressing that while colleagues and younger staff may address one another by first names, senior citizens and elders should be treated with respect.
A viral moment has now reportedly turned into a lesson about workplace culture, respect and generational differences.
