The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),Ekiti State Council has charged governor Biodun Oyebanji to ensure payments of the outstanding allowances, deductions and leave bonuses of members working in media houses.
The union,in its communique at the end of the monthly Congress held on July 6,2023 also reminded the governor of the payment of 35 per cent weigh-in allowance for the Press Officers in the government service.
Signed by the Secretary, Kayode Babatuyi, the NUJ renewed it call for the governor to ensure appointment of a qualified, competent and thoroughbred journalist as Commissioner for Information.
The NUJ,however commended governor Oyebanji for the prompt and regular payment of workers salaries since his assumption of office .
The Congress called on the state and federal government to as a matter of urgency, work out modality and make palliative available to all Nigerians to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
The Congress appeals to the State government to embark on construction of drainage system and dredging of waterways in the flood prone areas across the state to avert flood disaster during this rainy season.
The Congress further admonished Government to repair the bad portions of roads in the State, and open more roads in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital especially some areas that are difficult to access such as Omisanjana- Ajebamidele, Ireje and others.
