The chairman Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Yemi Adaramodu has described the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti ,Oba Ajibade Alabi as a progressive and forward-looking traditional ruler, who has created progress and sustained peace for Ilawe-Ekiti.

The senate spokesman gave this commendation during the commissioning of an ultramodern lock-up shops and open stores which he facilitated for his country home Ilawe-Ekiti, headquarters of Ekiti South West LGA of Ekiti.

The legislator explained that the idea of the ultramodern Lockup shops, open stores, which was named after the traditional ruler of the town, with the insignia, ‘Oba Afuntade Market’, was therefore in line with his curiosity in boosting and uplifting the local economy of the town.

Adaramodu, representing Ekiti South Senatorial District in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly explained that the project was conceived as a constituency intervention, after discussions with the Local Government, with the aim of accelerating economic growth at the grassroots.

According to him, the need to boost the local economy of the people at the third tier level of government necessitated his actions.

The senator said : “I want to appreciate our developmental traditional ruler, the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, there was never an error or mistake, in the process that made him our Oba.

” As a good and forward-looking ruler, , he started well, and has been doing quite well by following up on his promises to his creator that great things would happen during his reign, and we as his subjects, especially those of us occupying positions of authority have no option than to support such lofty ideals.

“You have created progress for Ilawe-Ekiti, we are all contributing our quota to the development of this town, and there is no resting on our oars”, he said.

Continuing, he said ” I thank Almighty God for the completion of this project, and to further assure that many great things are still underway.

” That is why it is my resolve to serve as an example for those coming behind us, I must set some great things, so that they can know that Ilawe-Ekiti indeed has promising sons and daughters it can rely upon”.

Adaramodu further said since market is seen as very important part of concerted efforts, aimed at promoting sustainable development in Ilawe-Ekiti, no efforts must be spared at promoting it by sons and daughters in positions of authority.

While promising that more development projects are still underway, he affirmed his commitment to setting a standard of service that future leaders in the Senatorial District, right from the level of Councillor, would build upon, in years to come.

He called for effective and judicious use of the market by the traders that are allocated shops in the facility.

Speaking, Oba Ajibade Alabi, who asked other sons and daughters to emulate the good virtues of Adaramodu, commended him for his effective representation at the Senate, and for deeming it fit to build the ultramodern market.

The oba, who was once the Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, warned against illicit drug trading and other abuses in the market.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Executive Chairman of Ekiti South West Local Government, Richard Apolola, described the market as a landmark development that would stimulate commercial activities and improve livelihoods in the town.

He also commended the Senator for his giant strides in the community, saying that the speed and quality of the project were unprecedented in the area.

He urged beneficiaries to maintain the facility, stressing that proper use would ensure its long-term economic value to the community.

The council chairman announced plans to install solar-powered lighting and provide security at the market, which are measures expected to extend trading hours, improve safety and further enhance commercial activities.

According to him, these additions would enable traders to operate conveniently, while increasing revenue generation for both traders and the Local Government
