A delegation of West African Elders Forum (WAEF) including former Burkinabe prime minister and one-time president of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Kadre Ouedraogo and myself today began a three-day pre-election assessment mission to the Republic of Liberia.

Former Nigeria President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan in a statement who led the delegation said upon their arrival in Monrovia, the team met with His Excellency President George Manneh Weah, leaders of the National Assembly, as well as the judiciary, to kick start the consultations with relevant stakeholders.
“During our stay, the team and I will meet with other key stakeholders including presidential candidates, leaders of political parties, the electoral management body, security chiefs, members of the diplomatic corps and civil society groups who will brief us on the level of preparedness for the polls.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Liberians in building the confidence and consensus towards peaceful, transparent, and credible general elections in October 2023.” Jonathan said .
