All is set for the hosting of the 3rd edition of the Investigative Training For Female Journalists .
The programme is designed to bridging the gap in journalism through female investigative reporting training scheduled for 13 – 15 May 2024.
Toun Okewale–Sonaiya, the CEO of the Women Radio Centre, emphasised the objective of the 2024 Female Investigative Reporting Training as giving power to young female journalists to uncover and report untold stories that affect women and girls, amplify the voices of women and create a balance in the investigative gender gap.
The three -day residential training will equip female journalists with practical techniques to conduct in-depth investigative reports on underrepresented issues affecting women and girls in Nigeria.
Faculty for the 2024 training comprises practising industry experts and professionals led by Dapo Olorunyomi, Publisher of Premium Times Nigeria. Others are Dr Suleiman M. Yar’adua of Bayero University Kano, Idris Akinbajo, Managing Editor of Premium Times Nigeria; Busola Ajibola, Deputy Director at Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development; Charles Mbah, Programme Lead at Dataphyte; Maxine Danso, Senior Researcher at Dubawa Ghana, and Anas Aremeyaro, undercover investigative journalist from Ghana.
Out of the 388 applications received from female journalists, we carefully selected 20 female journalists and journos, who will benefit from the wealth of our seasoned faculty.
Women Radio Centre, the first female academy, was established in 2020 with the support of MacArthur Foundation to train women in the media.
