2023:  Dati blasts Dogara over reckless religious politics says former Speaker can’t fool Christians

Yakubu Dati, the Chief of Staff to the Director+General, All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has described  the rantings of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara as self-serving agenda.
Datti ,in a statement  on Wednesday  also described Dogara as an opportunist who intends to ignite a religious war over his alleged failure to realise his selfish political agenda.
He argued  that Dogara cannot be trusted, particularly when it comes to matters affecting Christian and christianity in Nigeria since his records as a politician have not shown that he was not one of those who stood for  them in the past .
Dogara ,at a summit organised by the Nigerian National Christians Coalition (NNCC) in Abuja on Tuesday,  had said the adoption of same faith Presidential and Vice Presidential ticket by the APC was antithetical to Nigeria’s quest for nation building and called on Christians to resist the temptation not to waste their votes in the 2023 general elections.
Dismissing  Dogara’s argument , Dati  maintained  that “Christians in Nigeria are not fooled as they know very well those who have stood for them in the past and that Dogara is not one of them as all his politics bear no such testimonies.
”Perhaps, the worst show of indignity and moral perversion was when the former Speaker having decamped to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and won his seat in 2019, tried to circumvent the convention of the House of Representatives by working to return as speaker of the House on a minority ticket until the plot was discovered and nipped in the bud.”
Dati declared that Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau’ State was the right person to have been angered when he was not picked  by Tinubu as his running mate, having given his all to APC over the years, but he said the governor did not exhibit any form of betray when he was overlooked.
Dati insisted that Northern Christians would not be swayed by sentiments of religion, maintaining that Dogara had not been consistent over the years.
According to Dati, Dogara was lacking in principle as he had changed political platforms more than four times at various times depending on his interest.
He said: ”For this, lots of people have called attention to the fact that it is only when Dogara lost the bid to be running mate to Tinubu that he suddenly realised there was something wrong with the APC and the significance of religiously balanced ticket.
”All the while it seemed okay for Dogara to be paired with Tinubu only because he sees himself as a frontline contender for the position and nothing more.
