A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) and member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly ,Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye has charged the opposition, particularly Engr Segun Oni to toe the path of peace and development of Ekiti .
Oni, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) is challenging Oyebanji’s victory at the Election Petition Tribunal which commenced sitting on Tuesday.
The lawmaker, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti clarified that ” APC is not afraid of litigation filed by Segun Oni. We knew quite well and convincingly that we won on a popular will and no power under the sun can subvert it. Oyebanji’s victory is like the biblical house built on a rock that can’t be blown off by whirlwind.
Aribasoye ,therefore advised Oni to stop what he called ” shadow-boxing “voyage and join the development train that is about to berth in the state.
” But we owe it a duty to preach to those that are desperate to derail the process to toe the path of civility and development, in the interest of the generality of Ekiti citizens”, Aribasoye stated.
The Lawyer knocked the opposition party, especially former Governor Segun Oni for resorting to litigation to truncate and subvert the popular will of Ekiti people, saying he had personalised governance and posing as if the state has been pocketed.
Aribasoye bemoaned how parties without manifesto like the Oni-propelled Social Democratic Party could be desperate to govern Ekiti, saying the 21st century economy is being ran with ideas and innovations, not by crudity.
He stated further; “Just for the fact that the governor -elect is administratively savvy, he made security of lives and property a whole pillar, which suggested that adequate investment through elevated budgetary provisions will be made in this regard for Ekiti residents, tourists and investors to be terror-free to carry out their daily businesses under a serene and propitious atmosphere.
“Under the good governance concept, Ekiti workers and pensioners will enjoy regular payments of their salaries and pension as being experienced under Fayemi, while the political office holders, traders, farmers, Okada riders, drivers and others from informal sector will also reap the fruits of their labour.
Periscoping the proposed Oyebanji’s six-cardinal agenda.the Human Rights Lawyer said the six- point agenda of the governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji will further resolve the cankerworms of poverty, unemployment and insecurity issues in the state.
The lawmaker representing Ikole constituency 2, said the well articulated 6-point policy thrust, was fashioned after the one being prosecuted by Governor Kayode Fayemi, to ensure continuity of governance and consolidation of democracy dividends for the populace.
Aribasoye stated that as encapsulated in the manifesto, job creation for young people and human capital development, would be top priorities of the Oyebanji’s government, to further tap the rich human resources the state was endowed with.
The lawmaker added that the agenda also encompasses thematic areas like: Agriculture and Rural Development, Infrastructure and Industrialisation, Arts, Culture, and Tourism, and Good Governance.
Aribasoye assured Ekiti voters that they had made the right choice during the June 18 governorship poll in Ekiti, saying it could have been disastrous if the results had favoured the opposition.
“That is the kernel of continuity in governance. Gone were the days when two months allocations were being lumped to pay one month salary in Ekiti.
“Infrastructure and industrialisation, Arts, Culture and Tourism, Agriculture and Rural Development would be pursued with vigour to boost and elevate the human capital development that are available and where Ekiti was deemed to have the best comparative advantage.
“Deconstructing the foregoing, the worst skeptics should be able decipher that Biodun Oyebanji is not going to be an accidental governor, he is well groomed and prepared for the task of governing Ekiti in the most profitable way”.
