The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University Professor Joseph Babalola has reiterated his commitment to ensure the Institution maintains the standard that saw it ranked as the best state university and 12th overall in the country.
Professor Babalola made this known during a press conference organized by the institution as part of the 29th convocation ceremony which is scheduled to hold on 28th and 29th March 2025.
Professor Babalola announced that despite the paucity of funds, the Institution is witnessing massive ongoing pyhsical infrastructural projects which are; Blocks of Classrooms, Boreholes, Phase 2 Hostels for medical students and Construction of FM Radio all facilitated by the Distinguished Senator Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele.
The Don highlighted the various achievements he has been able to accomplish since his appointment which include; Renovation and painting of the university gate and fence, Remodelling of the Out Patient Department of the university Health Centre building, Repainting of the EKSU International College fence, Renovation of the male and female hostels
Among the university’s success stories is the repair of the dilapidated roof of the Omolayo administrative building.

According to Professor Babalola, the Institution is graduating 16,446 students from the 2022/23 and 2023/24 academic sessions with 200 students bagging first-class honours 5,406 students earned a second-class upper division, 9,076 obtained a second-class lower division, 1,295 earned third-class degrees, and four students graduated with a pass.
Furthermore, the university will confer 162 PhD degrees, 242 master’s degrees, and 61 postgraduate diplomas on deserving candidates .
Honorary Doctorate Degrees will also be confered on the senate leader Senator (Dr) Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele (CON), the Executive chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service Dr. Zacch Adedeji and Dr. Mansur Muhtar the Chairman Board of the Bank of Industry.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for increasing the University’s monthly subvention from ₦260 million to ₦410 million, a move he claimed has significantly helped clear outstanding staff salaries and allowances, boosting staff morale and contributing to the stability of the academic calendar.
Professor Babalola maintained that while Academic excellence has been the watcword of his administration, the university has meted out deserving punishment to erring 13 staffs for various offences ranging from sexual misconduct, abandonment of duty post and termination of appointments.
