I Collected N1billion,N100million but I did not embezzle – Ayu tells Wike  ,Urges Rivers governor to always get his facts right 

After weeks of silence over fraud allegations, the embattled national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) admitted  that he collected huge funds from  some governors as alleged by the Rivers State governor ,Nyesome Wike but denied diverting the  said funds into private accounts.

Dr Ayu who made the clarifications while speaking with  reporters after a meeting with the Board of Trustee (BoT) at the party headquarters in Abuja, said that both stories were correct but insisted that he didn’t divert the funds.

“Ayu said “It is true that I collected N100million from a sitting governor, but I did not pocket it, but put it in the party till for the project it was meant.

“For instance, he said the issue of N1billion started when the came into office and needed money to hit the ground running, adding that the party had wanted to take a loan, but the idea was latter shelved, arguing that he did not collect any money as the National Chairman of the Party.

In the same vein, Ayu  said the story around the N100 million was also true but that he collected it from a PDP Governor and employing it judiciously for the renovation of the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI) which would be commissioned in days, adding that the money was not even exhausted and a letter had been dispatched to the said governor to come and see what the money has been used for.
