Kings University Odeomu Holds 10th Matriculation Ceremony, Vice Chancellor Charges Students on Creativity

Kings University, Odeomu, has once again demonstrated its commitment to raising future leaders and professionals driven by knowledge, integrity, and innovation, as the institution held its 10th matriculation ceremony.
The event, which took place at the university’s Lecture Theatre, marked the formal admission of fresh students into various academic programmes. It featured inspiring speeches, scholarly reflections, and solemn pledges from the new intakes.
In her address, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Kuku, welcomed the new students and admonished them to remain focused on their academic pursuits. She emphasized that their primary purpose in the university was to learn and grow in character and competence.
She highlighted the institution’s unwavering dedication to academic excellence and moral uprightness.
According to her, the university’s mission is to provide world-class education while nurturing students’ intellectual curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. She encouraged the students to actively contribute to the realization of these goals.
While delivering his lecture titled “Emerging Technologies as Catalysts for Youth Career Development,”, Dr. Clement Omagbemi, a former University Librarian of Bells University of Technology, Ota, focused on the relevance of technological advancements across all career fields.
He explained that technology had become a transformative force in the modern world, and he urged the students to leverage it in shaping their career paths and future aspirations. He also noted that the evolving career today, though challenging, offered immense opportunities for adaptable and innovative young minds.
Further enriching the event, the Secretary of the University Board of Trustees, Pastor Femi Faseru, presented a thought-provoking paper titled “Standing Out in the World of Duplicates: A Scholarly Exploration of Uniqueness and Identity.”
He reflected on the increasing need for individuality in an age of digital replication and social conformity.
He urged the students to uphold authenticity and values that transcend fleeting trends, maintaining that true uniqueness emanates from a clear sense of purpose and identity.
In her closing remark, the  VC reiterated the importance of personal development beyond the classroom.
She urged the students to take full advantage of the university’s numerous platforms for leadership, social interaction, and extracurricular engagement. She mentioned that the university provided a wide range of opportunities, including student clubs, sports teams, and cultural events, designed to support holistic student development.
The ceremony concluded with the official oath-taking, as the matriculating students pledged their allegiance to the university’s values and ethical standards, formally becoming members of the Kings University community.
