Vote On Reserved Seats Bill For Women, Postponed

The National Secretariat for the Reserved Seats for Women Bill wishes to inform the public that the scheduled vote on the Bill at the National Assembly has been postponed to the end of November or early December 2025.

According to the leadership of the National Assembly, the postponement is intended to allow for further consultations, technical refinements, and stakeholder alignment, ensuring that the Bill’s final provisions reflect the broadest possible consensus among legislators and the Nigerian public.

While this delay may understandably frustrate many Nigerians who have shown steadfast support for women’s political inclusion, it provides a vital opportunity to sustain advocacy, deepen public engagement, and strengthen cross-party collaboration toward the Bill’s successful passage.

The Reserved Seats for Women Bill remains a landmark piece of legislation that seeks to secure women’s equitable representation in parliament a decisive step toward a more inclusive, accountable, and representative democracy.

We urge all partners, supporters, and citizens to remain united and focused as we continue to engage with lawmakers. Our collective resolve is clear: Nigeria rises when her women rise.

Further updates on the rescheduled voting date will be communicated once confirmed by the National Assembly leadership via our policy accountability tool: www.469tracker.com.
